Today there are increasing inequalities in society and the gap between the rich and the poor, both in social and economic terms. This may lead social classes to seperate themselves spatially in the city. In this paper, it is determined that the well-off people of urban areas has spatially secluded from the other social groups. „Gated communities‟ are growing in popularity. Gated communities provide an extreme example of residential segregation. So this paper uses empirical evidence to profile the location and characteristics of gated development in Adana and details the relative perception of well-off peoples. The aim of this study is to investigate the perceptions of the well-off about the poor who are becoming rapidly excluded from the socio-physical spaces of the city and the relationship between these perceptions and spatial segregation.en_US
