David “Noodles” Aaronson’ın Kişisel Tarihi: ‘Bir Zamanlar Amerika’da Geçmiş Zaman ve Hatırlama Temaları Üzerine

Abstract

Sergio Leone’nin Bir Zamanlar Amerika’sı zaman felsefesi ve geçmiş-bellek ilişkisinin incelikle işlendiği bir yapımdır. Bu filmi Bergsoncu terimlerle incelemek filmi anlama ve tahlil etme yolunda oldukça açıklayıcı olacaktır. Film modern, nefsani ve rasyonel ferdin iç dünyasını ve kahramanların kaderi değiştirme arzusu ve iradeye fazla güvenmesi sonucu travmatikleşen kişisel tarihlerini, hatırlama ve geçmiş zaman temaları etrafında işlemiştir. Hafıza ve ayrıntıyı merkeze alan çokkatmanlı senaryosu, işlenmiş ana karakteri ve filmsel zamanın sıradışı sıçramaları ile bezeli kendine münhasır üslubu ve felsefi-fikri derinliği ile gerek yönetmenin filmografisinde gerek kendi janrı içinde müstesna bir yere sahip olan filmi aynı zamanda toplumsal ve sosyolojik boyutlarıyla okumak da mümkündür. Bu makale boyunca filmin felsefi-fikri boyutuna odaklanılarak Bergsoncu terimlerle filmden seçilmiş fragmanlar tahlil edilmiştir.

Sergio Leone’s Once Upon a Time in America is a movie which tackles philosophy of time and relationship of human memory and past time with a subtle style. Analyzing the movie with Bergsonian terms will be very insightful to interpret and understand it. The movie narrates inner world of modern, profane and rational individual and traumatic personal histories of characters which originated from over estimation of human will and desire of changing the destiny in context of remembering and past time themes. Its manifold scenario precedes the detail and the memory. Besides, its jumps in filmic time, great artistic style and philosophical and intellectual aspect makes the movie almost unique in its genre. It is also possible to interpret the movie with social and sociological aspects. Throughout the article, selected fragments of the movie is analyzed with terms of Bergsonian theory by focusing to the movie’s philosophical aspect.
