Şehrîzâde Mehmed Said: Hayatı ve Eserleri

Abstract

XVIII. yüzyıl Osmanlı tarih yazımının önemli simalarından biri olan Şehrîzâde Mehmed Said kısa süren hayatına ilmî ve edebî açıdan çeşitli alanlarda çok sayıda eser sığdırmayı başarmış velût bir ansiklopedist alimdir. Günümüze intikal eden eserleri yurt içi ve yurt dışındaki kütüphanelere dağılmış vaziyette olan bu çok yönlü müellifin hayatı ve eserleri üzerinde maalesef son zamanlara kadar derli toplu bir inceleme yapılmamıştır. Bu çalışmamızda, Şehrîzâde Mehmed Said’in hayatı ve eserlerinin hususiyetine temas edilerek özet şekilde açıklayıcı bilgiler verilmeye çalışılmıştır.

Şehrîzâde Mehmed Said, one of the important figures of the 18th century Ottoman historiography, is a prolific encyclopedist scholar who has managed to fit a large number of scientific and literary works in various fields in his short life. Unfortunately, until recently, no comprehensive study has been made on the life and works of this versatile author whose works that have survived to this day are scattered in libraries in the country and abroad. In this study, it has been tried to give brief explanatory information by touching on the life and characteristics of Şehrîzâde Mehmed Said’s Works.
