Politikanın Koşulu Olarak Polis’in Politik ve Etik Değeri

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı, modern politik düşünceye yönelik eleştirilerden biri olan klasiğe dönüş hareketinde sıklıkla başvurulan Aristoteles’in etik ve politika düşüncesine dair bir izlek sunmaktır. Çalışmada, Aristoteles düşüncesinin modern politikaya sunabileceği tahayyüllerin politik bir hamleye bürünmesi durumunda doğurabileceği tehlikelere dikkat çekilecek, bunun için de politika ve politika biliminin ana referanslarından birine dönüşen Aristoteles düşüncesini politik felsefe zeminine çekmenin gerekliliğine işaret edilecektir. Bu amaçla öncelikle Aristoteles’in polis, politea ve politika kavramları arasındaki ilgi belirginleştirilecek ve politik okumalarda dışarıda bırakılıp etik bahsine dahil edilen dostluk, erdem, iyi kavramları ile ilişkilendirilecektir. Bu okumanın bir örneği olarak Leo Strauss’un Aristoteles yorumunun etrafında dolaşarak hem Strauss okumasına hem de günümüzde de devam eden klasiğe ve şehre dönüş hareketlerine sınır çekme gerekliliğine işaret edilecek.

The aim of this study is to explore traces of Aristotle’s ethical and political thought, frequently referenced in the ‘Return to Classics’ movement, which serves as a critique of modern political thought. The study will highlight potential dangers Aristotle’s ideas might pose to modern politics if the imaginaries offered by his thought were to take on a political dimension. To this end, it will be argued that Aristotle’s ideas—having become a primary reference in political science—should be grounded within the realm of political philosophy. First, the relationship between Aristotle’s concepts of polis, politea, and politics will be clarified and connected with the concepts of friendship, virtue, and the good, which are often excluded from political interpretations but included in ethical readings. As an example of this perspective, Leo Strauss’s interpretation of Aristotle will be analyzed, emphasizing the need to delineate boundaries both to Strauss’s reading and to contemporary movements advocating a return to classical interpretations of the city.
