Yabancı Dil Olarak Türkçe Öğretimi Bağlamında Fen Bilimleri Ders Kitaplarındaki Söz Varlığının İncelenmesi

Abstract

Türkçeyi yabancı/ikinci dil olarak öğrenenlerin bilmeleri gereken sözcükler dil kullanım alanlarına göre çeşitlilik göstermektedir. Bu bağlamda Türkiye’de farklı okul kademelerinde eğitim gören yabancı uyruklu öğrencilerin günlük hayatta sık ve yaygın kullanılan sözcüklerin yanı sıra farklı disiplinlere özgü sözcükleri de öğrenmeleri gerekmektedir. Bu çalışmada yabancı uyruklu öğrencilerin sözcük dağarcıklarını geliştirmelerine katkı sunmak üzere fen bilimleri alanında sık ve yaygın kullanılan sözcük/terimlerin tespit edilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Çalışmanın verileri Millî Eğitim Bakanlığı tarafından onaylanan ortaokul düzeyindeki 8 adet fen bilimleri ders kitabından elde edilmiştir. Nitel araştırma desenlerinden durum çalışmasının kullanıldığı çalışmada veriler doküman analizi yöntemiyle toplanmıştır. Çalışma kapsamında, ders kitaplarında bulunan fen bilimleri terimleri ve bunların kullanım sıklığı ile yaygınlığı belirlenmiştir. Çalışmada kullanım sıklığı ve yaygınlığı yüksek olan terimlerin fen bilimleri alanında kullanılan temel terimler arasında bulunduğu görülmüştür. Bu terimler arasında günlük dilde de kullanılan sözcüklerin olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Çalışmada ayrıca incelenen dökümanlarda fizik, kimya, biyoloji ve gök bilimi alanlarında en sık kullanılan ilk 100 terim belirlenmiştir. Çalışma sonucunda oluşturulan terim listeleri Türkçenin yabancı/ikinci dil olarak öğretimi alanında kullanılmak üzere araştırmacıların, öğrencilerin ve eğitimcilerin kullanımına sunulmuştur. Bu çalışmanın aynı zamanda yabancılara Türkçe öğretimi materyallerinde bulunması gereken terimler konusuna katkı sunacağı düşünülmektedir.

The words that those who learn Turkish as a foreign/second language should know vary according to their language usage areas. In this context, foreign students studying at different school levels in Turkey need to learn words specific to different disciplines as well as common words used in daily life. In this study, it is intended to identify common words/terms in the field of science to contribute to the development of vocabulary of foreign students. The study data was obtained from eight science textbooks at the secondary school level approved by the Ministry of National Education. The case study, which is one of the qualitative research designs, was used in the study and the data were collected by document analysis method. Within the scope of the study, the science terms in the textbooks and their frequency and prevalence were determined. In the study, it was seen that the terms with high frequency and prevalence are among the basic terms used in the field of science. Among these terms, it has been determined that there are words used in daily language as well. In addition, the first 100 terms used most frequently in the fields of physics, chemistry, biology and astronomy were determined in the documents examined in the study. The term lists created as a result of the study were made available to researchers, students and educators to be used in the field of teaching Turkish as a foreign/second language. It is thought that this study will also contribute to the subject of terms that should be found in the materials of teaching Turkish to foreigners.
