Yabancı Dil Olarak Türkçe Öğrenenlere Sözcük Öğretiminde Quizlet Kullanımının Etkisi

Abstract

Yabancı dilde sözcük öğretiminde tercih edilen dijital araçlardan biri Quizlet’tir. Bu araştırmada yabancı dil olarak Türkçe öğrenenlere sözcük öğretiminde Quizlet’in etkisinin ne ve nasıl olduğunu belirlemek amaçlanmıştır. Çalışmada karma araştırma modeli kullanılmıştır. Çalışmanın nicel kısmı için yarı deneysel bir araştırma modeli seçilmiştir. Deney ve kontrol grubunu B1 seviyesinde Türkçe öğrenen 40 öğrenen oluşturmaktadır. Araştırma verileri ön test ve son test olarak araştırmacının oluşturduğu sözcük bilgisi testi ile toplanmıştır. Elde edilen veriler SPSS programıyla çözümlenmiştir. Araştırmanın nitel çalışma kısmında durum çalışması deseni kullanılmıştır. Veriler deney grubunu oluşturan 20 öğrenenden araştırmacı tarafından oluşturulan etkinlik değerlendirme formu aracılığıyla ve deney grubunda yer alan 4 öğrenenle odak grup görüşmesi yapılarak toplanmıştır. Elde edilen veriler içerik analiziyle çözümlenmiştir. Çalışmanın sonucunda yabancı dil olarak Türkçe öğrenenlerin sözcük öğretiminde Quizlet’in kullanımının öğrenenlerin sözcük bilgisini geliştirmede etkili olduğu ve bu etkinin olumlu yönde olduğu tespit edilmiştir.

Quizlet is one of the preferred digital tools for teaching vocabulary in a foreign language. In this study, it is aimed to determine what and how the effect of Quizlet is on teaching vocabulary to learners of Turkish as a foreign language. Mixed research model was used in the study. A quasi-experimental research model was chosen for the quantitative part of the study. The experimental and control groups consisted of 40 Turkish learners at B1 level. The research data were collected as pre-test and post-test with a vocabulary knowledge test created by the researcher. The data obtained were analysed with the SPSS programme. Case study design was used in the qualitative part of the study. Data were collected from 20 learners in the experimental group through the activity evaluation form created by the researcher and focus group interviews with 4 learners in the experimental group. The data obtained were analysed by content analysis. As a result of the study, it was determined that the use of Quizlet in teaching vocabulary to learners of Turkish as a foreign language is effective in improving learners' vocabulary knowledge and this effect is positive.
