Özet

Abu Jahil was born in 554 in Mecca. His full name was Amr b. Hisham b. Mughira al-Makhzumi. Before becoming one of the strongest enemies of Islam and Prophet Muhammad, he was known as Abu al-Hakam. Because of his hostility and cruelty to the Muslims, the prophet changed his name to Abu Jahil (meaning “father of ignorance”). Abu Jahil was the uncle of Umar ibn al-Khattab, who was a companion of the prophet and later a righteous caliph.
