Mimari Mekânın Biçimlenmesinde Yer Kavramı ve Mekânda Anlam: Louis Kahn Örneği

Abstract

20. yüzyıldaki küreselleşme hareketleri ile birlikte, modern çağın getirdiği imkânlar, gelişen teknoloji ve yeni üretim biçimleri doğrultusunda kentsel bağ-lamından koparılan, kültürel birikimden beslenmeyen, üretildiği coğrafya ve yer’e ait özelliklere dokunmayan bir mimari anlayış oluşmuştur. Mimarlık, artık bölgesel sınırları ortadan kaldıran evrensel bir olgu olarak karşımıza çıkmakta-dır. Bu bağlamda, “mimarlık” ile “yer” arasındaki ilişkinin doğru kurulması, di-ğer bir deyişle, yer’in ruhu’nun görünür kılınması Louis Kahn’ın yaklaşımları doğrultusunda ele alınmıştır. Bu doğrultuda çalışma kapsamında, mimarlık ile yer arasındaki ilişkiyi irdele-mek amacıyla kimlik, anlam, bağlam, yer duygusu ve aidiyet gibi kavramlar mekân-yer ikiliği ile ilişkilendirilerek bir çerçeve oluşturulmuştur. Bu çerçeve-de, modernite ve küreselleşme ile birlikte sorunlu bir hal alan ve içeriği yeniden tartışma konusu olan “yer” kavramı üzerinden “yersizleşme” ve “kimliksizleş-me” sorunları ele alınmaya çalışılmıştır. Louis Kahn’a referanslar verilerek, ça-lışmada kavramsal ve kuramsal çerçeveyle vurgulanan “yer” kavramına yakla-şımları ve bu konuya yönelik yaklaşımlarının etkileşiminden doğan mimari yan-sımalar uygulama örnekleriyle birlikte değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır.

With the globalization movements of the 20th century, opportunities brought about by the modern age, evolving technology, and new forms of production have led to an architectural understanding that is detached from its urban con-text, does not draw from cultural heritage, and does not touch upon the specific characteristics of the geography and place of its origin. Architecture now emer-ges as a universal phenomenon that eliminates regional boundaries. In this con-text, the issue of “how to be both modern and return to roots” or, in other words, establishing the correct relationship between “architecture" and "place,” revea-ling the spirit of the place, has been addressed in line with the approaches of Lo-uis Kahn. In this context, within the scope of the study, a framework has been established by associating concepts such as identity, meaning, context, sense of place, and belonging with the space-place duality to examine the relationship between arc-hitecture and place. Within this framework, the problematic concept of "place," which has become a subject of renewed debate with modernity and globaliza-tion, is explored through the issues of "displacement" and "identity loss." Drawing references to Louis Kahn, the study aims to evaluate his conceptual and theoretical approaches to the notion of "place" emphasized in the study, along with the architectural reflections arising from the interaction of these app-roaches, through practical examples.
