COVID 19 Pandemi Dönemi Otizm Spektrum Bozukluğu ve/veya Belirtilerini Etkileyen Bir Faktör Müdür?

Abstract

Yeni koronavirüs hastalığının (Covid19) ortaya çıkması ve ardından tüm dünya geneline yayılmasıyla birlikte evrensel bir salgına dönüşmüştür. Bu süreçte ülkeler birçok yönden olumsuz etkilenmiş ve böylelikle hastalığın bulaşını önlemek adına bazı tedbirler alınmıştır. Bunlar arasında sosyal izolasyon, zorunlu maske kullanımı, sokağa çıkma yasakları ve karantina gibi çeşitli önlemler yer almaktadır. Bireyler açısından değerlendiğinde ise yaşamlarında büyük değişikliklere yer vererek rutinlerini değiştirmişlerdir. Yakın çevreleriyle görüşememiş ve alınan tedbirlerle birlikte psikolojik sorunlar yaşamışlardır. Bu çalışmanın temel amacı, Covid19 pandemi döneminin nörogelişimsel bir bozukluk olan otizm spektrum bozukluğu (OSB) tanısı almış bireylerin belirtilerini etkileyen bir faktör olup olmadığını araştırmaktır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda belirli anahtar kelimeler kullanılarak, belirli dahil etme ve hariç tutma kriterleri belirlenerek “PubMed”, “Google Scholar”, “Yök Tez Merkezi”, “Yök Açık Bilim”, “ScienceDirect”, “DergiPark” ve “ProQuest” elektronik veri tabanlarında yapılan çalışmalar taranması ve derlenmesi hedeflenmiştir. Elde edilen çalışmalardan çoğunun bulguları, Covid19 pandemi döneminde OSB tanısı almış bireylerin belirtilerinde ve şiddetinde farklılık gözlemlendiğini göstermiştir. Örneğin bireylerin dil gelişiminde, tekrarlayan davranışlarında, sosyal etkileşim güçlüklerinde olumsuz sonuçlar meydana gelmiştir. Aynı zamanda sahip oldukları becerilerin gerilediği ve yeni becerilerin kazanımında bir artış olmadığı belirtilmiştir. Aksine, az sayıdaki çalışmaların bulgularına göre ise belirtilerde bir farklılığın meydana gelmediği ve olumsuz yönde etkilenmedikleri bildirilmiştir. Sonuç olarak, Covid19 pandemi dönemi tek başına OSB belirtilerini etkileyen bir faktör olmadığı fakat bu süreçte alınan önlemlerle birlikte sosyal izolasyon, eğitimin aksaması, aile ile geçirilen zamanın artması, ebeveynin tutumu ve bu dönemde oluşan ruh sağlığı değişiklikleri gibi nedenlerin belirtileri etkileyen faktörler arasında sayılabilmektedir. Son olarak çalışmaya dahil edilen araştırmaların sonuçları tartışılmış ve psikoloji alanı ve gelecek bilimsel çalışmalar için bazı önerilerde bulunulmuştur.

With the emergence of the new coronavirus disease (covid19) and its subsequent spread throughout the world, it has turned into a universal epidemic. During this process, countries were negatively affected in many ways and thus some measures were taken to prevent the transmission of the disease these are; various measures such as social isolation, mandatory use of masks, curfews and quarantine. When evaluated from the perspective of individuals, they changed their routines by making major changes in their lives, were not able to meet with their close circle and experienced psychological problems as a result of the measures taken. The main purpose of this study is to investigate whether the covid19 pandemic period is a factor affecting the symptoms of individuals diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), a neurodevelopmental disorder. For this purpose, by using certain keywords and determining certain inclusion and exclusion criteria, electronic data sources such as "PubMed", "Google Scholar", "Yök Thesis Center", "Yök Open Science", "ScienceDirect", "DergiPark" and "ProQuest" were searched. It is aimed to scan and compile the studies carried out on these bases. The findings of most of the obtained studies have observed differences in the symptoms and severity of individuals diagnosed with ASD during the covid19 pandemic period. For example, negative consequences have occurred in individuals' language development, repetitive behaviors, and social interaction difficulties. At the same time, it was stated that the skills they had decreased and there was no increase in the acquisition of new skills. On the contrary, according to the findings of a small number of studies, it has been reported that there is no difference in symptoms and that they are not negatively affected. As a result, the Covid19 pandemic period alone is not a factor affecting ASD symptoms, but along with the measures taken during this period, reasons such as social isolation, disruption of education, increased time spent with the family, parental attitude and mental health changes that occurred during that period can be counted among the factors affecting the symptoms. Finally, the results of the studies included in the study were discussed and some suggestions were made for the field of psychology and future scientific studies.
