Fâtih Sultan Mehmed İthaflı Eserlerin Mekik Formundaki Zahriye Tezhipleri Üzerine Bir Değerlendirme

Abstract

Bu çalışmada, Türkiye Yazma Eserler Kurumu Başkanlığı’nın hazırladığı ve sonrasında kataloğunu yayımladığı “Sultan Fâtih’in Şahsî Kitaplığı Yazma Eser Sergisi”nde yer alan eserlerin mekik formundaki zahriye tezhiplerinin incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Sergi, Fatih Sultan Mehmed’in şehzâdeliği ve hükümdarlığı boyunca oluşturduğu kütüphanesindeki -kendisi için hazırlanan yazma eserlerden seçilmiş- tıp, felsefe, mantık, metafizik, astroloji, tefsir, kelâm, fıkıh, dinler tarihi vb. gibi birçok alanı hâvi 98 eserden müteşekkildir. Çalışmamızın kapsamında böyle bir örneklem seçilmesinin sebebi, Sultân için hazırlanan bu eserlerin dönemin bezeme anlayışını sarîh bir şekilde yansıtmasıdır. Zîra, mezkûr eserler Sultân adına hazırlandığından dolayı hattı, tezhibi, cildi vb. hususiyetler bakımından son derece özenle oluşturulmuş özgün tasarımlara ve ince işçiliğe sahiptir. Çalışmanın giriş bölümünde, Osmanlı sultanlarının hem sanatkâr hem de sanat hâmisi yönlerinin kitap sanatlarının gelişimindeki etkileri aktarılmıştır. Ardından Fâtih Sultan Mehmed’in ilim ve sanat hâmisi veçhesi üzerinde durulmuştur. Takip eden bölümde Fâtih dönemi tezhibinde etkili olan üslûplardan bahsedildikten sonra, mezkûr sergide yer alan eserlerden mekik formundaki 43 zahriye tezhibi, sayfa planında müstakil olarak ve çerçeveli bir alan içinde, köşebentler ya da bezenmiş farklı alanlarla çevrili olarak iki başlık altında sınıflandırılmış ve seçili görseller üzerinden incelenmiştir. Bu inceleme sonucunda mekik formundaki zahriye tezhiplerinde görülen desen kurgusu, kullanılan motifler ve bunların kompozisyon içindeki fonksiyonu, etkili üslûplar, uygulama teknikleri, renkler ile bu hususların tasarım çeşitliliğini sağlamadaki etkileri ele alınmaya çalışılmıştır.

The aim of this study is to analyze the frontispiece illuminations in the shuttle form of the works in the “Sultan Fâtih's Personal Library Manuscript Exhibition” organized by the Turkish Institution for Manuscripts and then published its catalogue. The exhibition consists of 98 works from Fatih Sultan Mehmed's library -selected from the manuscripts prepared for him during his princedom and reign- covering many fields such as medicine, philosophy, logic, metaphysics, astrology, tafsir, theology, fiqh, history of religions, etc. The reason for choosing such a sample within the scope of our study is that these works prepared for the Sultan clearly reflect the ornamental understanding of the period. Since the aforementioned works were prepared on behalf of the Sultan, they have unique designs and fine workmanship in terms of calligraphy, illumination, binding, etc., which were created with the utmost care. In the introduction, the effects of both the artistic and patronizing aspects of the Ottoman sultans on the development of book arts are presented. Then, Fâtih Sultan Mehmed's role as a patron of science and art is emphasized. In the following section, after discussing the styles that were influential in the illumination of the Fâtih period, 43 frontispiece illuminations in the form of a shuttle among the works included in the aforementioned exhibition were classified under two headings: as stand-alone on the page plan and within a framed area, surrounded by brackets or different decorated areas, and analyzed through selected visuals. As a result of this examination, it has been attempted to discuss the design fiction, the motifs used and their function in the composition, effective styles, application techniques, colors and the effects of these issues in providing design diversity.
